I've been meaning to post this experience for some time. It happened on February 17, 2009. Here's my story:
My refrigerator has been making knocking sounds off and on for a while and I've been trying to ignore it. Sunday night it started knocking and just wouldn't stop. I called to set up a service call first thing Monday morning and they couldn't come until Tuesday.
As Monday went on, I started noticing that it wasn't even keeping our food cold anymore so I borrowed coolers from a neighbor and started emptying out my refrigerator and freezer. The good news about that is it's cold outside so we stored the coolers on our porch and the food was able to be saved.
I kept telling my husband everything would work out just fine. He started really stressing because of the cost. Just to have someone come look at it costs $69.95. Then, you pay for parts and labor on top of that. We had worked ourselves up to believe it would be expensive and may be worth just buying a new refrigerator. He really wanted to go buy one, but I told him to hold on. Our refrigerator is only three years old and is very nice so I wanted to just wait and see. I worked on keeping my spirits up and tried to help him keep his up as well. I called a sister and a friend to help me, and they did.
Today, the guy came to fix our refrigerator. He was here for about 15 minutes. After he had fixed the problem, he started typing information into his computer and asked us how long we've had the refrigerator. We told him almost three years. Then, he got very specific about when we moved in. It was the end of February 2006. Well, it turns out that, for some reason, our refrigerator was under a three year warranty and so the problem was completely covered, even the $69.95 trip charge!! This would have normally cost us $250.
I feel so incredibly grateful right now!!!! What I thought was a curse yesterday turned out to be a huge blessing. If it had not gone out for three more weeks, we would have had to pay for it to get fixed. Since it went out when it did, it was 100% covered!!

Decision
At the end of 2006, I started Bob Proctor's Success Puzzle program and every day for 90 days, I read an awesome essay on Decision by Dr. Carole N. Hildebrand:
"There is a corollary element that must go hand in hand with the decision...and that is commitment. IT MUST BE A COMMITTED DECISION. Most of us have weak decision-making muscles...we do not even recognize what it means to make a real decision. We fail to realize the force of change, a truly congruent, committed decision makes. Part of our problem is that we use the term decision so loosely that it has come to describe our wishes, not our commitments. Instead of making decisions, we state our preferences. The word decision comes from the Latin roots, de, meaning from and caedere, meaning to cut...therefore a decision means cutting from any other possibility. A TRUE DECISION, then, means you are committed to achieving a result, and then cutting yourself off from any other possibility.
Committed decisions show up in two places--your calendar and your checkbook. No matter what you say you value, or even think your priorities are, you have only to look at last year's calendar and checkbook to see the decisions you have made about what you truly value. For example, I am committed to growth, both professionally and personally. A review of my calendar always shows multiple continuing education courses, seminars, and workshops in both the personal growth area, as well as in my profession. My checkbook is filled with tuition disbursements, purchases of books and videos. Bottom line...see how you have reserved your time...look at your expenditures...those are the road maps to the decisions you have made in the past.
After making a true decision, especially the tough ones, we usually feel a tremendous burden has been lifted from our shoulders."
With this definition of decision, when was the last time you made a true decision in your life? This is definitely something worth pondering!

Reach Your Goals in Steps
Last summer, I watched the Olympics a lot. I rejoiced with all the athletes as they accomplished their goals they had worked so hard to reach. I also felt for those who fell short. One story in particular peaked my interest because of what it taught me. I wrote about it in the ThoughtsAlive forum, and I'm glad I did so that I have a record of it. My sister, Alisa, referred to it recently and added an additional thought. Here's the story I posted:
I watched Laura Wilkinson in platform diving last night. She's now 30 years old and was diving with girls half her age. Her background is that she surprisingly won the Gold Medal in Sydney in 2000 and in Athens, she came in 5th. She was planning to retire, but won the 10-meter title at the world championships in 2005 and decided to stick around and do one more Olympics. She had some pretty good preliminary rounds but by the finals, she wasn't looking so good. She had a bandage on her arm and it was hard for her to stick her entries. Her first dive was decent, but her 2nd and 3rd dives were pretty bad--lots of splash (that's how I can tell). By the end of her 4th dive, she was in 11th place and definitely out of medal contention. Her 5th and final dive was beautiful. As she was getting out of the water, the announcer said that she had envisioned her final dive to be just like that and to win the Gold Medal with it. That got me thinking. I wondered if she had envisioned her 2nd and 3rd dives, because those were the ones that kept her from getting a medal (the first two divers were extremely good, so I honestly think she was fighting to get a bronze). She wound up coming in 9th... every dive was important, not just the final one.
This is the thought my sister, Alisa, brought up:
Stephen R. Covey put it this way: "...there is no shortcut. If I am at day two (to use the analogy of the six days of creation) and desire to move to day six, I must go through days three, four, and five. If I pretend to be at day six in order to impress others, eventually I will be found out... I must move through each of the intervening steps. If I try to push too hard or to go too fast in order to shortcut the process, I may... drop back to day one." (The Spiritual Roots of Human Relations, p.14-15)
So many times, we tend to think, "When is this (goal) going to happen?" Break it down into bite-size pieces and when you accomplish the first step, move on to the next. Because we all start at different places, this may be fast or slow, depending on where you are and where you need to go.
Say you live in California and you want to drive to New York. You have a friend who lives in North Carolina who is going to meet you there. You're further away, but you keep driving and just get there. Your friend decides to take the scenic route and check out the sights along the way. Even though you're further away, you can still get there first, because you kept your focus and got there without distractions. So, nobody can give you a definite time frame for your goal--it's up to you!! Isn't that empowering? YOU have control.
Make it a great day!!

Motivational Music
I love music and I'm sure many of you do as well. It's a powerful tool to learn concepts. There are songs to teach us the 50 states, states and capitals, order of books in the scriptures, etc. And who can forget Schoolhouse Rock? I love to put it on for my children and listen to them sing along with it.
I heard about Michele Blood a while ago. She writes motivational songs which Bob Proctor has used quite a bit. I bought one of her CD's and have enjoyed it. My kids like to sing along, too. "S-U-C-C-E-double S, Success, Success..." (I forgot to mention songs that help spell words, and those are out there, too.)
She offers a daily motivational song. You can listen to it by clicking on the link below. To make it easy to find in the future, I have added that link under my profile on the left side of the screen. The song will change daily and if you really like it, you can sign up to have it sent to your e-mail each day. Let me know what you think.

Adversity
I got a new purse for Christmas, which is good, because my old one was looking pretty hammered. That meant I needed to clean out my old purse and take everything out of it. While doing it, I came across a folded up piece of paper with the following story on it. I'm not sure exactly where I got it but I love the message.
Shake It Off and Step Up
Hardships
A parable is told of a farmer who owned an old mule. The mule fell into the farmer's well. The farmer heard the mule 'braying' - or - whatever mules do when they fall into wells. After carefully assessing the situation, the farmer sympathized with the mule, but decided that neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving. Instead, he called his neighbors together and told them what had happened and enlisted them to help haul dirt to bury the old mule in the well and put him out of his misery.
Initially, the old mule was hysterical! But as the farmer and his neighbors continued shoveling and the dirt hit his back, a thought struck him. It suddenly dawned on him that every time a shovel load of dirt landed on his back, he should shake it off and step up! This he did, blow after blow.
"Shake it off and step up...shake it off and step up...shake it off and step up!" he repeated to encourage himself. No matter how painful the blows, or distressing the situation seemed, the old mule fought "panic" and just kept right on shaking it off and stepping up!
You're right! It wasn't long before the old mule, battered and exhausted, stepped triumphantly over the wall of that well! What seemed like it would bury him, actually blessed him. All because of the manner in which he handled his adversity.
What a great message!! When you're feeling down and having a hard time, remember to SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP!!

New Year
I realized that when I gave my last entry the title "I Resigned...," I think I subconsciously resigned from updating my blog.
What I love about the new year is it always gives me a fresh start. I'm planning to update my blog more regularly. Writing is something I don't feel comes naturally to me, but I know that the more I do it, the better I get. I am continually learning and this is a good way to share what I'm learning with like-minded individuals.
Thanks for visiting my blog. One of my goals for 2009 is to make it even better and provide more content. I'm excited for the new year and all the possibilities it contains!

I Resigned...
In writing my last post, I wrote about doing the best you can and letting God make up the difference. Leslie Householder tells us to resign as Manager of the Universe. I've always kind of chuckled at that and gone on with my life.
I've been rereading Florence Scovel Shinn's book "The Secret Door to Success" and in there is a chapter entitled The Fork in the Road. I was reading it about a week ago and I had been going through a rough time. I was feeling sick, stressed out and like I just couldn't handle everything. I read a quote and the thought came to me, "You need to resign as Manager of the Universe." I started to laugh it off and it came to me again and said, "No, you literally need to resign as Manager of the Universe."
I know it's powerful to bring goals, dreams, etc. into the physical by writing them down so I drafted a letter. I did it quickly because if I dragged it out, I would end up not doing it. So, here it is.
October 15, 2008
Dear Universe,
I hereby submit my resignation, effective immediately, as Manager of the Universe.
In contemplating the last few weeks of my life, it has come to my attention that I haven't been doing a very good job.
I am ready and willing to step aside for the good of my life, and that of my family.
I am divinely led. I follow the right fork in the road. God makes a way where there is no way. I am turning that job over to God NOW!
Sincerely,
Melanie Valderrama

The Science of Getting Rich, Chapter 7
I apologize for being a slacker lately. I went out of town and got out of the habit of posting. I'm back and ready to get going again.
On to chapter 7 of "The Science of Getting Rich." This is the chapter on Gratitude and a lot can be said on this topic. I have really learned over the past little while to express gratitude for EVERYTHING!! Even my trials. When I have done that, I am amazed at what good I can find in any situation--ones that would have reduced me to tears and anger in the past.
With that in mind, one of my favorite quotes in this chapter is: "The more gratefully we fix our minds on the Supreme when good things come to us, the more good things we will receive, and the more rapidly they will come; and the reason simply is that the mental attitude of gratitude draws the mind into closer touch with the source from which the blessings come." The trick in that is to choose gratitude even when things aren't going well. Try it and see what amazing experiences you are able to enjoy.
He then goes on to say, "If it is a new thought to you that gratitude brings your whole mind into closer harmony with the creative energies of the universe, consider it well, and you will see that it is true. The good things you already have come to you along the line of obedience to certain laws. Gratitude will lead your mind out along the ways by which things come; and it will keep you in close harmony with creative thought and prevent you from falling into competitive thought.
Gratitude alone can keep you looking toward the All, and prevent you from falling into the error of thinking of the supply as limited; and to do that would be fatal to your hopes."
Your life is perfect as it is now! If you're resisting that idea, just choose to believe it. Do the best that you can and God will make up the difference. What a relief to me to not have to do everything myself! Express gratitude for ALL that you have and remember that there is good to be found even in the bad.

The Science of Getting Rich, Chapter 6
"If you fix upon your consciousness the fact that the desire you feel for the possession of riches is one with the desire of Omnipotence for more complete expression, your faith becomes invincible.
...
All that there is of possibility is seeking expression through men. God wants those who can play music to have pianos and every other instrument, and to have the means to cultivate their talents to the fullest extent; He wants those who can appreciate beauty to be able to surround themselves with beautiful things; He wants those who can discern truth to have every opportunity to travel and observe; He wants those who can appreciate dress to be beautifully clothed, and those who can appreciate good food to be luxuriously fed.
He wants all these things because it is Himself that enjoys and appreciates them; it is God who wants to play, and sing, and enjoy beauty, and proclaim truth and wear fine clothes, and eat good foods. "It is God that worketh in you to will and to do," said Paul."
What are you looking to express in your life? Music? Art? Fashion? I love this passage as it inspires me to pursue and cultivate my talents.
I am musically inclined and I could be so much better than I am. I enjoy playing the piano and organ and singing and I haven't been doing much with those talents lately. I do find that when I practice, even if it's just a little bit, I get pretty good. When I slack off, however, I lose my gifts quickly.
Maybe you have an eye for art or fashion or can cook amazing food. I'm not much of a cook, so I am in awe of people who can make delicious food or eat delicious food and name all the ingredients in it!
Here's a question for you to ponder: What is the possibility seeking express through you, RIGHT NOW?

The Science of Getting Rich, Chapter 5
I love this chapter because this is where we first learn about the competitive vs. creative plane. I LOVE this concept because I hated to think that in order for me to get more, someone else had to get less. Here are the words of Wallace Wattles:
"You must get rid of the thought of competition. You are to create, not to compete for what is already created.
You do not have to take anything away from any one.
You do not have to drive sharp bargains.
You do not have to cheat, or to take advantage. You do not need to let any man work for you for less than he earns.
You do not have to covet the property of others, or to look at it with wishful eyes; no man has anything of which you cannot have the like, and that without taking what he has away from him.
You are to become a creator, not a competitor; you are going to get what you want, but in such a way that when you get it every other man will have more than he has now."
As we become creators, we help everyone else. I love the way Leslie Householder explains this in her book "Hidden Treasures: Heaven's Astonishing Help With Your Money Matters." On page 19, she says, "...picture a pie, with one piece which belongs to you. If your piece of the pie represents the prosperity or wealth you enjoy, then to get more, someone must get less, (see fig. 1 and fig. 2).
On the other hand, you will see that to obtain wealth on a creative plane, you are adding some pie to the outer rim of your piece, increasing the diameter of the pie; and because Nature Abhors a Vacuum, the rest of the pie gets filled in, by law, and a bigger pie is created for everyone, (fig. 3 and fig. 4)." (To see the illustrations, you'll just need to order her book, which is excellent, by the way.)
So, you make the entire pie bigger which helps everyone. What an amazing concept! We are all creators and there are many ways to make this happen. An example Leslie gives in her book is when she held her first seminar. It was win, win, win all the way around. Not one person lost out in the event. I've not yet done this on a grand scale, but I now look for ways to live on the creative plane. I've taught a friend's daughter piano in exchange for makeup. I try to look for situations that will be win-win for everyone involved. Life is so much more fun this way!

The Science of Getting Rich, Chapter 4
I love so much in this chapter that it's hard to choose, so I'll share a couple of quotes that go together.
The first quote I love is: "Man is a thinking center, and can originate thought. All the forms that man fashions with his hands, must first exist in his thought; he cannot shape a thing until he has thought that thing."
So, EVERYTHING we see was first a thought. Look around you. Your computer, couch, table, decorations, piano, games, the list could go on and on. Someone thought a couch would be nice to sit on and created it. Cool! I'm grateful for that because I love my couch.
Have you ever thought of something and said, "It would sure be nice if someone would invent that." You may find out that it already exists. I love looking through catalogs. The other day I saw a strainer that you can put over the top of a can. I think it's handy, but I'm fine with the way I strain liquid out of a can, so I'm not planning to buy one. That was something I had never thought of, but when I saw it, I realized that there must have been a need for that. Again, the list here could go on and on.
The other great thing about this quote is that it says that we are creators. We think about what we want to create first. The world was even created spiritually first before it was created physically. We have a great pattern to follow. We can't shape anything until we first think about it. Makes sense, right?
Wallace Wattles also gives three fundamental statements to read, memorize and meditate on and they are as follows:
"There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe.
A thought, in this substance, Produces the thing that is imaged by the thought.
Man can form things in his thought, and, by impressing his thought upon formless substance, can cause the thing he thinks about to be created."
Ponder these statements as you read Chapter 4 and see what you can come up with. Remember that we are creators and can do amazing things!

The Science of Getting Rich, Chapter 3
There are a couple of short quotes I really like in this chapter.
The first one is the first paragraph: "No man is kept poor because opportunity has been taken away from him; because other people have monopolized the wealth, and have put a fence around it. You may be shut off from engaging in business in certain lines, but there are other channels open to you."
He goes on to talk about how the railways are monopolized, so you might want to look into aerial transportation. The book seems a little outdated here, but the principles aren't. In fact, today, there are so many more opportunities available that weren't an option back then. The internet alone has opened up an exciting, new world!
Your first focus should be on developing yourself. This takes time and commitment. I've done it and I haven't. My life is so much better when I take the time to do something to improve my life daily. It may be books I read, a DVD I watch, ezines, newsletters, blogs, etc. There is so much to choose from!
The second quote I like from this chapter is: "There is abundance of opportunity for the man who will go with the tide, instead of trying to swim against it." The tide is to recognize your unique contribution and go with it. Figure out your purpose in life and work towards it. If you don't know what your life purpose is and want help with figuring it out, I highly recommend working with my life purpose coach at www.coachalisa.com.
There are some other great gems in this chapter and I highly recommend reading it and finding them yourself.

The Science of Getting Rich, Chapter 2
I decided to go ahead and share one thought from each chapter that resonates with me. Because there are all kinds of forms in which to get this book and the chapters are fairly short, I will refer to each quote by the chapter it's in.
In Chapter 2, the quote I like is:
"If anybody else in your town can get rich, so can you; and if anybody else in your state can get rich, so can you.
Again, it is not a matter of choosing some particular business or profession. People get rich in every business, and in every profession; while their next door neighbors in the same vocation remain in poverty.
It is true that you will do best in a business which you like, and which is congenial to you; and if you have certain talents which are well developed, you will do best in a business which calls for the exercise of those talents."
I have been a legal secretary/assistant for a number of years and have worked with quite a few attorneys. There is a misconception that attorneys are rich. Some are and some aren't. I have seen some struggle to make ends meet and some who have the Midas touch.
As I've gotten older and wiser, I've seen it in other industries as well. Certain professions where the stereotype is that they're all wealthy, just isn't true. Reading this book has given me some insights into why that happens. It really comes down to the individual and how they're living their life.
What are your talents? What things do you enjoy doing? We tend to think we have to stay away from occupations that "don't make money." The internet has opened up a world of opportunity and if you truly enjoy doing something, the way will be opened for you to make money doing it.
Give it some thought. What could you do all day long and not care if you got paid for it or not, because you just enjoy doing it? That will be a great place to start!

The Science of Getting Rich, Chapter 1
Leslie Householder is currently conducting a teleclass on the book "The Science of Getting Rich" by Wallace Wattles. This book was originally written in 1910. You can download a free copy at www.scienceofgettingrich.net or www.sgrscienceofgettingrich.com. There are lots of other great websites to get a free copy, too.
Some of you may be turned off by the name of the book. Honestly, I wasn't. When I first heard about this book, I was in a place of really wanting to have money. I had lived long enough without it and knew that that wasn't fun. I decided that I wanted to try living life having money and see how that felt.
I have to admit: the first time I read this book, I didn't get it. I thought "What's all the fuss about this book?" and "I don't see how this book is going to help me become rich." Now I know that I wasn't ready to understand and apply the teachings in my life. And that was okay. Apparently I needed a little more struggle and a few more lessons to learn.
I started a mastermind group which consists of some amazing women. A few months into this call, we read this book again. I started seeing some precious gems in it. Then, after we discussed it, I saw even more! Every time I read it, I'm amazed that I didn't get it the first time around, and I'm still learning from it.
Back to the teleclass: Last night was the 2nd of 8 classes and I'm finding even more in it. I'd like to share some things.
The very first paragraph reads: "Whatever may be said in praise of poverty, the fact remains that it is not possible to live a really complete or successful life unless one is rich. No man can rise to his greatest possible height in talent or soul development unless he has plenty of money; for to unfold the soul and to develop talent he must have many things to use, and he cannot have these things unless he has money to buy them with."
This brings to mind a few points. First of all, I've heard it said that you're more obsessed with money when you don't have it than when you do. I know from firsthand experience that this is true. I like to serve and help others and that's hard to do when I'm working in my spare time to bring in enough income just to cover the bills each month.
Money is a neutral energy--it is not good or bad. So, being afraid that lots of money will make me a bad person is silly. Money makes you more of what you already are. If you want to help others, you will have the resources to do so. If you want to hurt others, you will likewise have the resources to do that. I choose to believe that I will help others and I do that on a small scale right now.
I like to imagine how I will feel when I go to the grocery store on any day of the week and buy healthy food that I want to eat, not just what's on sale or shop only after payday. I also like to imagine my peace of mind that my bills are paid in full and on time and if I feel like attending a seminar or buy something online, it doesn't depend on my bank account but if it's something I feel will enhance my life.
As my children are getting older, there are different activities they want to participate in. I want to help them discover and develop their talents and again, I don't want it to depend on what I can afford but rather on what they want to pursue.
Since this is getting quite long, I will continue on another post!

Free Download
I'm excited to announce that I now have my own free download to give away. I started working on it at Mentor Training and it was finalized and put on its own site last week!
Go to http://melaniev.thoughtsalive.com. Read my story and get my free download. The title of it is "Peace of Mind at the Pump: Using the 7 Laws of Success When You Gas Up Your Car." My download will help reinforce the 7 laws I've been blogging about. Please let me know what you think about it. Thanks!

Law of Gender and Gestation
The Law of Gender states that in all of creation there is male and female in every kind. For life to continue, there must be one to plant the seed, and one to grow and nourish the seed.
We plant idea seeds in our minds all the time. The secret is to plant good ideas. Prepare your mind to receive good ideas by putting good things into it first. You can begin this process by first taking out the bad. I started doing this with TV programs, taking out the ones that I don't feel are good for me at all, including the news. I still have some weeding out to do, but I'm off to a great start!
The books I like to read are also changing. I love reading and I read anything I can get my hands on. I enjoy reading uplifting books and I still enjoy a good novel here and there.
I listen to uplifting CD's when I'm in my car. There are so many good things to listen to that I never run out of choices. When I find a "meaty" CD, I'll listen to it over and over so I can digest all the great information on it.
The Law of Gestation states that every seed has an incubation period. The best analogy I've heard for this also comes from Leslie Householder. When a woman is pregnant, she knows that it is only for a certain period of time and then she will have a baby. If she goes past her due date, she doesn't panic and think the baby will never come. Instead, she gets more excited since she knows each passing day brings her even closer to having the baby.
The same is true of our goals. Don't panic and think all is lost if something doesn't happen right away or on your timetable. Again, I'm going to refer to Leslie Householder's book "Hidden Treasures: Heaven's Astonishing Help With Your Money Matters." On pages 145-146, she gives two ideas to help you receive your goal faster: "We can increase the intensity of our seeking. We can pray more fervently. We can fast (for example, try skipping food and water for two meals, replacing eating with meditation). We can focus our efforts. Like sunlight and a magnifying glass, our focused thoughts can be dramatically effective.
We can increase our faith through study, and obedience. All of these things help us draw on the powers of heaven to our benefit. They put us in a vibration that is in closer harmony to God, and it is within reason to believe that the closer we are to the Source of all blessings, the more blessed we will be."

The Law of Cause and Effect
The Law of Cause and Effect states that every cause has an effect, and every effect has a cause. Nothing happens by chance.
I recently received an article on this law and the author quoted Brian Tracy, who says, "This law says that if there is anything you want in life, an effect that you desire, you can find someone else that has achieved the same result or effect, and that by doing the same things they have done over and over you can eventually enjoy the same results and rewards.
Success, however you define it, is not an accident. It is not a result of good luck versus bad luck. Even if you have not taken the time to clearly identify how you got from where you were to where you are today, there have been a series of specific steps that you have taken that have brought you to where you are at this minute. And the fact is, they could have brought you to no other place. You are where you are, and what you are because of yourself. It has been your choices and your decisions over the months and years that have inevitably determined the condition of your life at this moment.
The most wonderful part of this is that at any time you can start making different choices and different decisions, taking different steps and you will inevitably arrive at a different place than where you are today.
...
The key to your enjoying more of what people call luck is for you to engage in more of the actions that are more likely to bring about the consequences that you desire. At the same time, you must conscientiously decide to avoid those actions that will not bring about the consequences that you desire, or even worse, will bring about consequences that you don't want."
What better example do we currently have of this law than the Olympics? The athletes are amazing. I have been impressed with so many of them. Michael Phelps is, of course, at the top of the list. He's made daily choices since he was 11 years old which led him to win 8 Gold Medals at these Olympic Games!
Shawn Johnson is a member of the US Women's Gymnastics team. She came to the games as a heavy favorite to win many gold medals. However, she wasn't getting the scores she normally gets and kept getting silver medals. What did she do? She didn't pout or complain about the scoring. Instead, she decided she was having the time of her life and she was going to go all out in her last event (balance beam) and continue to have fun and not worry about medals at all. What happened? She won a Gold Medal!! What an amazing example she has been.
What I love about this law is that if you don't currently like the direction your life is heading, it's not too late to change it!

Law of Rhythm
The Law of Rhythm states that when you feel down, be grateful, knowing that, by law, there is an upswing coming. Plan an endless progression upward.
On pages 119-120 of "Hidden Treasures: Heaven's Astonishing Help With Your Money Matters," Leslie Householder says: "So, when you are down, expect to go up. When you are up, expect that one day your 'up' won't be enough to keep you happy and it will feel like a down. It's all good. Look forward to feeling better, but you don't have to force it to happen. Nature provides; it will happen all on its own. Calm down and refuse to worry about bad things that haven't happened, and which may never happen. "Be still, and know that I am God" (Psalms 46:10), is good advice when you are on a 'down'."
This law has helped me in many ways. I used to stay in a "down" mood for days and weeks at a time. That is absolutely no fun at all. I wanted to be happy, but didn't know how. One way I have found this law to work for me is to notice the times that I start feeling down, and do something to pick myself up. I have found good books to read, good websites to go to, and good friends to associate with. I love knowing that I'm not a victim and I can make good choices to help my life go upward.
Is my life perfect? No, I still have times that I feel down, but that doesn't even last a day anymore. Now, with the Law of Relativity, I can compare how I feel when I'm "down" to how I want to feel and make better choices. One of my new favorite things to say is: "My old highs are my new lows and I plan to continue the cycle...oh, forever!"

Law of Polarity
The Law of Polarity states that everything has an opposite. A bad situation is equally good. Look for the good, and more good will be on its way.
On pages 100-101 of "Hidden Treasures: Heaven's Astonishing Help With Your Money Matters," Leslie Householder says: "It is important to realize that the experiences that we call unfortunate are, in every case, good for us...Just knowing that opposition is a natural part of our life experience can help us deal with disappointments."
Knowing this law has helped me tremendously in my life. I won't go into all the details here, but I have even found good in my mother's recent death. When something is really, really bad, it is likewise really, really good and our job is to find what's really, really good so we can feel comforted and peaceful.
Have you lost your job? The really, really good in that is that now you are free to find what you really want to do. That happened to my husband. At the time, the job loss seemed catastrophic, yet it turned out to be the best thing that could happen to us.
Are your relationships with others in the toilet? The really, really good in that is that you may be guided to new friends who will lift and inspire you. Or you may be guided to a book that will help you mend those relationships, and your experiences may help others in the future.
When things seem very bad, get excited and start looking for the very good as well. It's there, by law!

Mentor Training
Well, I was in Arizona most of this week attending Mentor Training for ThoughtsAlive.com. It was an amazing experience as I got to meet people I've been communicating with on the forums for a while. I had such a great time!
I also got to spend more time with Trevan and Leslie Householder and they are, in fact, the real deal. They practice what they preach and if you ever have the chance to attend one of their events, you need to go!
I am now an official ThoughtsAlive.com mentor and I'm excited to continue learning and growing. I will continue posting on the laws on Monday. See you then!
