Law of Gender and Gestation

The Law of Gender states that in all of creation there is male and female in every kind. For life to continue, there must be one to plant the seed, and one to grow and nourish the seed.

We plant idea seeds in our minds all the time. The secret is to plant good ideas. Prepare your mind to receive good ideas by putting good things into it first. You can begin this process by first taking out the bad. I started doing this with TV programs, taking out the ones that I don't feel are good for me at all, including the news. I still have some weeding out to do, but I'm off to a great start!

The books I like to read are also changing. I love reading and I read anything I can get my hands on. I enjoy reading uplifting books and I still enjoy a good novel here and there.

I listen to uplifting CD's when I'm in my car. There are so many good things to listen to that I never run out of choices. When I find a "meaty" CD, I'll listen to it over and over so I can digest all the great information on it.

The Law of Gestation states that every seed has an incubation period. The best analogy I've heard for this also comes from Leslie Householder. When a woman is pregnant, she knows that it is only for a certain period of time and then she will have a baby. If she goes past her due date, she doesn't panic and think the baby will never come. Instead, she gets more excited since she knows each passing day brings her even closer to having the baby.

The same is true of our goals. Don't panic and think all is lost if something doesn't happen right away or on your timetable. Again, I'm going to refer to Leslie Householder's book "Hidden Treasures: Heaven's Astonishing Help With Your Money Matters." On pages 145-146, she gives two ideas to help you receive your goal faster: "We can increase the intensity of our seeking. We can pray more fervently. We can fast (for example, try skipping food and water for two meals, replacing eating with meditation). We can focus our efforts. Like sunlight and a magnifying glass, our focused thoughts can be dramatically effective.

We can increase our faith through study, and obedience. All of these things help us draw on the powers of heaven to our benefit. They put us in a vibration that is in closer harmony to God, and it is within reason to believe that the closer we are to the Source of all blessings, the more blessed we will be."

The Law of Cause and Effect

The Law of Cause and Effect states that every cause has an effect, and every effect has a cause. Nothing happens by chance.

I recently received an article on this law and the author quoted Brian Tracy, who says, "This law says that if there is anything you want in life, an effect that you desire, you can find someone else that has achieved the same result or effect, and that by doing the same things they have done over and over you can eventually enjoy the same results and rewards.

Success, however you define it, is not an accident. It is not a result of good luck versus bad luck. Even if you have not taken the time to clearly identify how you got from where you were to where you are today, there have been a series of specific steps that you have taken that have brought you to where you are at this minute. And the fact is, they could have brought you to no other place. You are where you are, and what you are because of yourself. It has been your choices and your decisions over the months and years that have inevitably determined the condition of your life at this moment.

The most wonderful part of this is that at any time you can start making different choices and different decisions, taking different steps and you will inevitably arrive at a different place than where you are today.

...

The key to your enjoying more of what people call luck is for you to engage in more of the actions that are more likely to bring about the consequences that you desire. At the same time, you must conscientiously decide to avoid those actions that will not bring about the consequences that you desire, or even worse, will bring about consequences that you don't want."

What better example do we currently have of this law than the Olympics? The athletes are amazing. I have been impressed with so many of them. Michael Phelps is, of course, at the top of the list. He's made daily choices since he was 11 years old which led him to win 8 Gold Medals at these Olympic Games!

Shawn Johnson is a member of the US Women's Gymnastics team. She came to the games as a heavy favorite to win many gold medals. However, she wasn't getting the scores she normally gets and kept getting silver medals. What did she do? She didn't pout or complain about the scoring. Instead, she decided she was having the time of her life and she was going to go all out in her last event (balance beam) and continue to have fun and not worry about medals at all. What happened? She won a Gold Medal!! What an amazing example she has been.

What I love about this law is that if you don't currently like the direction your life is heading, it's not too late to change it!

Law of Rhythm

The Law of Rhythm states that when you feel down, be grateful, knowing that, by law, there is an upswing coming. Plan an endless progression upward.

On pages 119-120 of "Hidden Treasures: Heaven's Astonishing Help With Your Money Matters," Leslie Householder says: "So, when you are down, expect to go up. When you are up, expect that one day your 'up' won't be enough to keep you happy and it will feel like a down. It's all good. Look forward to feeling better, but you don't have to force it to happen. Nature provides; it will happen all on its own. Calm down and refuse to worry about bad things that haven't happened, and which may never happen. "Be still, and know that I am God" (Psalms 46:10), is good advice when you are on a 'down'."

This law has helped me in many ways. I used to stay in a "down" mood for days and weeks at a time. That is absolutely no fun at all. I wanted to be happy, but didn't know how. One way I have found this law to work for me is to notice the times that I start feeling down, and do something to pick myself up. I have found good books to read, good websites to go to, and good friends to associate with. I love knowing that I'm not a victim and I can make good choices to help my life go upward.

Is my life perfect? No, I still have times that I feel down, but that doesn't even last a day anymore. Now, with the Law of Relativity, I can compare how I feel when I'm "down" to how I want to feel and make better choices. One of my new favorite things to say is: "My old highs are my new lows and I plan to continue the cycle...oh, forever!"

Law of Polarity

The Law of Polarity states that everything has an opposite. A bad situation is equally good. Look for the good, and more good will be on its way.

On pages 100-101 of "Hidden Treasures: Heaven's Astonishing Help With Your Money Matters," Leslie Householder says: "It is important to realize that the experiences that we call unfortunate are, in every case, good for us...Just knowing that opposition is a natural part of our life experience can help us deal with disappointments."

Knowing this law has helped me tremendously in my life. I won't go into all the details here, but I have even found good in my mother's recent death. When something is really, really bad, it is likewise really, really good and our job is to find what's really, really good so we can feel comforted and peaceful.

Have you lost your job? The really, really good in that is that now you are free to find what you really want to do. That happened to my husband. At the time, the job loss seemed catastrophic, yet it turned out to be the best thing that could happen to us.

Are your relationships with others in the toilet? The really, really good in that is that you may be guided to new friends who will lift and inspire you. Or you may be guided to a book that will help you mend those relationships, and your experiences may help others in the future.

When things seem very bad, get excited and start looking for the very good as well. It's there, by law!

Mentor Training

Well, I was in Arizona most of this week attending Mentor Training for ThoughtsAlive.com. It was an amazing experience as I got to meet people I've been communicating with on the forums for a while. I had such a great time!

I also got to spend more time with Trevan and Leslie Householder and they are, in fact, the real deal. They practice what they preach and if you ever have the chance to attend one of their events, you need to go!

I am now an official ThoughtsAlive.com mentor and I'm excited to continue learning and growing. I will continue posting on the laws on Monday. See you then!
